Three eight sentence long stories.

Fox and the Dark
Fox ran down the dusty, winding night road.
Richard, he thought, looking about, where is Richard?
Damn him, Fox snapped, there's not enough time!
The dark was looming closer, silence growing greater.
Dark, Fox snarled, I'll stop you right here!
White fangs gleaming, Fox lunged for the dark.
Now there was a great silence; nothing stirred.
Richard emerged, smiling "Good Job" at the scene.

Poptart the Penguin
Poptart the purple penguin was a happy soul.
The polar bears liked to play with Poptart.
Poptart was always the best at the games.
Polar bears can be very, very jealous animals.
When Poptart wasn't looking, the bears attacked him.
All the bears threw Poptart into the water.
Hundreds of feet down, the poor penguin plummeted.
Silently now, he plots his ultimate, wicked revenge.

Hide and Seek at Night
"You shouldn't play hide and seek at night.
Sinister spirits might come and steal you away.
Pay attention to my warning, you foolish children."
Hands reached out to grab at their limbs.
Another embittered warning rang out from the gloom.
"Silly children, your pure hearts are mine now.
A fitting meal for a demon like me."
Never heard from again, they hid the best.
More fun from my creative writing class! The assignment was to write three stories, each eight sentences long, with eight words in each sentence. In addition, the first letter of each word in the first sentence would be the first letter of each corresponding subsequent sentence. Now for comments on the actual peices...

"Fox and the Dark" just kind of popped into my head. My teacher gave us the prompt, and Fox just sorta showed up in my head. I figured a story about a fox would lend itself well to the form. I was originally planning on writing another eight sentence story that would follow after it, but it really didn't work. I might try again some other time to expand on the story though. Also, "Fox and the Dark" got a comment in class: 'That was really cool. I have no clue what it meant, but it was cool. Kind of like independent film.'

"Poptart the Penguin" was written later in the day. My brain was deader than disco when I wrote it. Inspired by a penguin on a pair of PJs that I have that a friend of mine named Poptart.

"Hide and Seek at Night" was the last one I wrote. I thought it was pretty cool. One of the kids in my class hid under his desk while I was reading it.

Edit... as per usual, I am physically incapable of submitting something without first making some weird typos. This time I used the wrong tags to make Fox thoughts italicized and the left out the fifth line from the third story. It's all fixed now though.
